Data Engineer/Data Analyst
Role
Thought Layer is seeking an experienced Data Engineer with at least 5 years of experience to work as part of our Business Engineering team. Duties including preparing data sets, integration, warehousing, analysis, and performing data analysis functions across sets of transactional, operational, device, and various other data sources.

As a data engineer you will work with a multidiscipline Business Engineering team developing process intelligence, transactional, and business intelligence solutions. Your role will focus on the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of data integrations, data sets, and warehousing paradigms that support solutions. You will have the opportunity to integrate, work with, pilot, and implement solutions across various technologies, databases, and structures. Additional duties may include business intelligence, analysis, visualization, data architecture, and documentation.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master's degree
-
2-3+ years relevant professional experience in Data Engineering and Business Intelligence
-
3-4+ years in with Advanced SQL (analytic functions), ETL (from Transactional Systems), Data Warehousing (experience with Time Series Data)

Advanced data analysis skills – e.g. pivot table
-
Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts, including data warehouse technical architectures, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT and reporting/analytic tools and environments, data structures, data modeling and performance tuning.

Experience working with, preparing, and integrating various types of data structures – flat, relational, hierarchical, graph, etc.

Experience with data visualization and analysis

Ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams

Knowledge of Business Process Modeling Notation and Business Process Management techniques
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s or higher degree in area such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Philosophy or similar.

Basic Programming experience (R, Python, Java, Javascript, etc.)

Healthcare Background
-
Knowledge and/or experience working with IBM Informatica, Talend, AbInitio, Pentaho and/or other model driven application development platforms

Knowledge and/or experience working with Big Data (Hadoop, etc.) and non-traditional data management and analysis

Knowledge of Data Science Concepts

Knowledge and/or experience with Machine Learning Algorithms and Analysis

Knowledge and/or experience with Data Visualization and tools (Tableau)

Knowledge and/or experience on working with Hive and the Hadoop ecosystem
